Rego Park was first developed in the 1920s by the REal GOod Development Company. The buildings and homes were desirable because of their proximity to Manhattan. Apartment prices are more modest than in neighboring Forest Hills, but it is still convenient to all shopping, transportation, dining, and houses of worship. Co-operatives and condominiums offer large rooms, spacious layouts, hardwood floors, high ceilings and lots of closets. Many have been renovated with the latest appliances and cabinetry. Monthly maintenance charges are still very affordable, sometimes less than rental apartment.
