Forest Hills Gardens Real Estate and Forest Hills Gardens Homes for Sale

Forest Hills Gardens, one of the most charming and prestigious communities, was originally a large farm purchased by the Cord Meyer Development Company and developed by the Russel Sage Foundation.  It is perhaps best known for the West Side Tennis Club, which was the home of the U.S. Open until the late 1970's.

Forest Hills Gardens was planned by Frederick Law Olmstead, Jr. who modeled the "Garden" community on English towns. The homes were designed by Grosvenor Atterbury, and quite a few homes were influenced by Gustav Stickley, who made famous the "Arts and Crafts" architectural movement.

Forest Hills Gardens has been home to many famous people including Dale Carnegie and Geraldine Ferraro, to name a few.

At the heart of Forest Hills Gardens is Station Square with its red cobblestone streets, and the Forest Hills Inn, a motor inn and country club which was had its opening ceremony in 1912 with President Teddy Roosevelt as the speaker.
