Forest Hills Gardens Real Estate and Forest Hills Gardens Coops and Condos

Forest Hills Gardens, one of the most charming and prestigious communities in NYC, was originally a large farm purchased by the Cord Meyer Development Company and developed by the Russell Sage Foundation. It is perhaps best known for the West Side Tennis Club, which was the home of the U.S. Open until the late 1970s and which has recently been revived with a seres of popular music concerts.

Forest Hills Gardens was planned out by Frederick Law Olmstead, Jr. who modeled the "Garden" community on English towns. The homes were designed by Grosvenor Atterbury, and quite a few were influenced by Gustav Stickley who made famous the "Arts and Crafts" architectural movement.

Although most of Forest Hills Gardens is made up of private houses, there are several mid-size apartment houses with co-op units for sale, all in close proximity to transportation, shopping and restaurants, for which Forest Hills is noted.
